Fire Farm Lighting, Elkader Iowa, founded 1991
What is the company known for?
We offer unique and innovative custom work to clients worldwide. Our founder and director, Adam Jackson Pollock, leads a skilled team who treats light as a creative medium. This approach manifests itself in the use of non- traditional materials and techniques not found in typical lighting applications. Through collaborative partnerships with interior designers and architects, Fire Farm creates sophisticated designs for hospitality, restaurant, and residential clients.
La vie est belle with our industrial chic Fire Farm Belle! Best of Show winner of IIDA/HD's Product Design Competition at HDExpo in 2016. This huge 6 foot diameter version of our Belle pendant features hand-finishing on the blackened steel exterior and a hand-applied gold leaf interior, with beautiful retro LED vintage clear lightbulbs inside.
Our matching Otto seating below also features the same hand-finished blackened steel under the cushy faux leather upholstery. And look closely in the center to see the included USB charging port cluster for you and your friends to re-energize your phone batteries while toasting actual live social interaction.
Here’s a little secret: the curve of our Belle captures your voices and sends them down to the floor when you’re standing or sitting underneath, creating a natural semi-private conversation area!

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and Lt. Governor Adam Gregg stopped in Elkader to visit Fire Farm late last month. As part of the “Building a Better Iowa” tour, Reynolds and Gregg met with Adam Pollock and the entire Fire Farm team to learn more about how local businesses like Fire Farm enable Iowa to participate in the global economy as well as become local incubators which nourish Iowa communities on many levels.
“Instead of talking about Fire Farm right away, I started with Elkader and its growth and evolution through the Main Street projects,” Adam explained. “I mentioned how state programs like CAT and RECAT, Great Places, and the Cultural and Entertainment District programs all have helped strengthen and enrich the community and local economy.”
“We were able to show tangible examples of projects that have benefitted from that community cross pollination and working together,” Pollock continued. “We explained how we have adopted new technologies to leverage our ability to compete in the marketplace against foreign competition, preparing us for future growth and a competitive labor market through the application of new construction techniques and equipment.”
The 45-minutes originally scheduled for the visit stretched into nearly an hour. And, Pollock said, he could’ve used two hours more. Read the full article from the Clayton County register here.
