Just got into NYC for setup for the BDNY hotel show this coming weekend.  No problems flying into Newark airport, snow all melted.  No problems taking the Port Auth bus into the city, less than half hour ride.  No problems getting to my midtown hotel.  No snow - it's all melted!  Restaurants and bars and shops are all open.  The sidewalks and streets are vibrant as ever. Food carts and sale tables and open doors welcome you on every block.

I know that folks in the suburbs and elsewhere in the city and on the coast are still struggling and need our support (donate to the Red Cross...I did), but if anyone had concerns about whether or not they should fly or train or bus or drive into NYC for this show it's time to confirm those travel plans ...and for all the local and regional architects and designers and hoteliers... please take time off on Sunday or Monday and come to the Javits Center and walk this show.  All of us exhibitors from around the country will be so happy to see you, and so proud of your support of this show and our industry,  and of the sturdy east coasters and New Yorkers who are making it happen.

Congrats to Homedics-Sharper Image Audio Group, just installed at the luxurious Omni Berkshire Place Hotel in midtown Manhattan: HMDX B440 bedside bluetooth audio alarm clocks that are compatible with ANY bluetooth enabled phone or music player.  So there's no need for a iPod compatible dock nor a USB cable nor a mini-audio-jack (although the USB charging port is there if you need it). Music is streamed wirelessly from your phone or player up to 30 ft away to the HMDX alarm clock.    Complete Hospitality Solutions is pleased that Omni Hotels has selected bluetooth technology and this in-guestroom amenity for its valued guests to enjoy!

AirTran punishing loyal frequent fliers by downgrading programs

So I just found out that Airtran has "improved" my 3 year standing as and Airtran A+ Elite frequent flier by removing the opportunity to buy or use points to upgrade from coach to business class 24 to 48 hours before my flights...it's now 40 MINUTES before a flight based on when I check in.  Very very smart.  They also raised the A+ Elite advance-purchase coach ticket prices to higher than full-fare business class.  Oh, that should improve sales.  ;-)

A very sharp ticket agent just told me in person, "it's so they can try to SELL more business class seats before a flight, instead of give them away"  Thank you so very much Airtran for all my dollars and miles and support of your airline over the years, and thank you so much to Southworst for buying them and degrading or downgrading or removing every advantage to being a member of their previously good frequent flier program.  They've certainly lowered themselves to match or be worst than almost any other airline out there.

I am NOT cattle, and do NOT like flying Southworst unless it's the only cheapset option on a short flight to where I'm going, so when they put the final nail in the coffin of Airtran some time next year and convert everything to Southworst, there will defintiely be one less loyal customer in their frequent flier program.
